When people decide to join an affiliate program to make extra money, or to have a full time job, they often do so with illusions and no idea of how the affiliate program actually works. #1 Don’t Compete, Support
Too many affiliate programs compete against their competitors which wastes money and puts affiliates out of business. One of the worst things to do is choose an affiliate program that believes in competing against other affiliates. Instead, choose an affiliate program that agrees with supporting and growing other affiliates to have a larger network and access to more affiliates.

Dear friends, when it comes to promoting affiliate programs we all follow a certain defined process. We first go to google.com ,type affiliate programs in the search field. When the results get displayed we look for "high paying" affiliate programs. By "high paying" I mean those who pay 25% commissions.

Then we visit each and every website listed and join the programs becuse they are free! to join. We put all sorts of banners and text ads on our links page and expect to see a check in our mail box the next morning.

Well, I am here going to reveal a very different way of promoting affiliate programs. Let us revise the process one-by-one.

Step 1> Search for affiliate programs with your favorite search engine. Look for only those

affiliate programs whcich have products which interests you. For example if you are interested in "radio controlled airplanes" then look for such products first. Don't start with promoting "herbal shampoos" or "yoga cd's" just because they pay 40% commissions.

a)Product which you know about or are interested in. b)Qulaity of the product. To know the quality of the product it is advisavle to buy the product yourself first.
c)The organisation associated with the product. Look for the promotional material they are giving to affiliates. This shows the confidence of the manufacturer in their own product.
d)Commission structure. Some webmasters provide 2 tier commission structure. Some have a threshhold amout before the affiliates get paid. Here is a nice place to sart with.

Step 2> Design a simple landing page to "presell" the product before sending the visitors to

actual sales page. Now this step is extremely imporant. Why do you to presell the product ?. This
is because this is internet. No one knows you here or has seen you personally.

Normally when someone buys from the internet he is going to look for similar 4-5 products before he gets to the final decision. Here if he comes to your affiliate landing page it becomes
much easier for him to compare the product you want to promote with similar 4-5 products in the category.

The landing page you have designed can have testimonials, which you can borrow from the sales page. It can also contain your own experience about the product. You can use before/after situations for describing the benefits of the product. You can use photographs of yourself using the product successfully. This adds instant credibility to the product you want to promote.

Step 3>When the visitors reach your landing page you must have a system to capture their names and email addresses. Because as I said earlier there are many people who look for similar
4-5 products before buying. By capturing email addresse you can "follow up" your subscribers later on using newsletters or product features using email autoresponders.

The best way to capture email addresses is to provide a free gift related to the product. This free gift can be an eBook written by you or many webmasters already have an ebook written for the affiliates. SO again this is a very importan tpoint, join only those programs where you will find
a decent promitional material already prepared for the affiliates.

One of the biggest fears new Affiliate managers have is in finding new affiliates. This fear is a stumbling block that stops many site owners from getting started with affiliate marketing. Interestingly, with a proper marketing strategy, getting affiliates may not be very difficult. Given below are some tips that may help in attracting new affiliates.

Find complimentary sites - "Complementary" sites are sites that sell products or services that compliment your offers. If you sell "gardening tools", a site that sells books on "gardening tips" would be a perfect affiliate.

Find content sites - There are many sites that do not sell any kind of product or service but are mainly content oriented sites. Such sites promote an idea, concept, study or belief. Content sites that are used as a resource for your target market are ideal affiliates.

Finally, there are several sites on the Internet dedicated to listing affiliate Programs. Get your program listed in these directories.

The first step is to pick at least three types of affiliate. Take a look at your affiliates and try to determine one outstanding characteristic that can easily be compared across the board and choose at least three types of the characteristic.

The Second Step is to determine the needs of each type. Each of your affiliate types will have different needs; some of their needs will overlap, but you should find a distinct difference in many of their needs. If you find that all of them have the same needs, go back to step one and re-think your types.

The Third Step involves the process of creating and compiling linking methods for each group of affiliates. Based on the needs you identified in Step two, create and compile linking methods for each type.

3. Safe Guarding Against Spam

Any time you run a program where your affiliates rely on other signups to generate profits, you will eventually have a problem with spam. One of your affiliates will inevitably get it into their head to blitz the Web with unwanted garbage.

When this happens you need to be ready to take action otherwise it will cost you! Your Internet company can boot you off your server and you can find yourself blacklisted. Not good for business. If you get an email from someone claiming they received spam with your URL, then take it as an early warning.

I am not advising you to immediately terminate the affiliate's account, but be sure to contact them to follow up on the complaint. Let your affiliate know you received a complaint and advise them to remove this person from their list.

If you only get one or two complaints, it's probably not spam, the complainants might simply have signed up for an email list and forgotten all about it.
